It’s stories like this that remind me that there are times that the only way ‘Memory Eternal’ is still a Good worth singing and praying for is because it’s God’s remembrance, and His love isn’t compromised. I think sometimes we still fool ourselves into thinking it’s about our remembrance, which includes those compromises you mention. So He gives us the hymn …and we sing…and maybe our memory becomes just a shade more like His each time we do . Bless you Steve. And May your dad’s memory be eternal!
Thank you... actually I serve up the whole enchilada for free. I'm just not a "pay wall" kind of person. I figure if someone likes my writing enough (and is able) to toss a couple dollars into my tip jar they'll do it and I don't need to manipulate them into doing it.
Yeah--I put up a paywall on mine because there are some ideas I prefer to try out with a more manageable group first, but I always let people in if they ask. And I couldn't figure out how to set up a tip jar for mine, and the Substack AI bot was no help. 🤷♀️
Yeah, I wish there was a way to do a "tip jar" so people could "donate" for a single post if they really liked it. Maybe there's a way to contact them and suggest that.
Yeah, it seems more and more people are caregiving aging parents these days. I get a lot of private responses from people who don't want to share their struggles publicly in comments.
“Love is complicated. It’s more than just “no regrets” and fulfilling an obligation, though that is part of the complexity and sacrifice of it. It is sometimes doing the simple but hard thing so that, perhaps even years later, we may lay aside the things that made love an obligation and find that we had within us a seed of grace, the capacity for embracing the entirety of the universe that is another person and give yourself for the well-being of them.”
Subdeacon, Dear Brother, this is a beautifully raw reflection and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing it with us/the world. May God help us, save us, have mercy on us, and keep us by His grace +

After while, Crocodile...Memory Eternal! ☦️
If this is chips and salsa, I can't even imagine what the rest is like.
Thank you for sharing this with us.

Maybe? I fell like since they created a support chat option, it’s been harder to actually get real support.
Memory eternal.
Thank you, Steve, once again. You encourage my heart and soul - you help enlarge my heart and soul. +
Memory eternal. And Grace and mercy to you and your wife.
Thank you for sharing.
I can relate. Your honesty and confession is appreciated. I am not the only one who experienced this too.

Wow.
