Walking on Water
Everyone has their dark waters.
Everyone has their storm.
Everyone rows their familiar, fragile boat, mightily but futilely against the waves.
Everyone believes in something that will save them if only they would step out into the thundering, lightning-flash illuminated darkness.
Everyone fears.
Everyone listens for a voice to say, “It is I… Do not fear.”
Everyone hopes, if but for one step into the waves.
Everyone doubts.
Everyone sinks into the dark sea.
Everyone reaches through the raging rain for a saving hand.
Do not judge another’s storms, another’s fear, another’s doubts, another’s inability to swim.
Insofar as you are able, be the image of Christ.
For everyone.
