Thanks for sharing your reflections. I too have reached the age when less time remains than has passed, and I too remember the good times as well as the sad times. But, all in all, it's still good to be alive and doing things, including making some mistakes along the way.
I think as we get older things aren’t so “consequential” as we think they were in our younger years, perhaps because we’ve seen the long run of even tragedy.
I keep returning to the refusal to sort the list — the birdhouse and the demolished marriage from the same two hands. That's a life confession written as a poem.
Looking back and remembering one's acts is truly commendable and a good use of one's memory. If our acts were accompanied by genuine naivete and/or humility, God will appraise them accordingly and save us.
